Our Mission

The Monastery Center, a ministry of Mother of God Monastery, responds to persons of all faiths in their longing for God, and invites them to participate in Workshops, Spiritual Direction, Private or Directed Retreats and Days of Prayer.

Our Vision

Inspired by our founder Saint Benedict and grounded in Benedictine monastic tradition, the Monastery Center is a spiritual and prayerful presence in northeastern South Dakota by:

•  Working toward the building of God's kingdom, by bringing our workshops and retreats to you...

•  By inviting you to a deeper spiritual adventure in your life, in an atmosphere of restful solitude and quiet beauty of our prairie surroundings.

•  Providing hospitality at our monastery by receiving each person as though they were Christ.

In Chapter 53 of the Holy Rule of St. Benedict, it tells us that: all guests are to be received as Christ, who himself says:                                                                   "I was a stranger and you took me in."  Matt 25:3
