TAIZE

Taize Prayer originated in the Christian, monastic community of Taize, located in the heart of the Burgundy region of France.  The Taize style service at the monastery is an ecumenical meditative service, where one invites God's presence to penetrate one's innermost being. 

The service consists of singing repeated short musical phrases, which allows the word of the chant to become a prayer of the heart, scripture reading, silent meditation and intercessory prayers of a broad and inclusive nature.  Praying for others widens the prayer to the dimensions of the whole human family.  Icons and candles are displayed to provide a reflective, calming environment
