LAY ASSOCIATES

BENEDICTINE LAY ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

Mother of God Monastery offers lay women an opportunity to share in Benedictine hospitality, spirituality, and the community life of the Sisters.  We invite women to experience living, praying, and working with the Sisters and sharing in their ministries.

The Lay Associate Program is open to women who:

  • desire to participate in the life and the work of the Sisters for one month to a year

  • are at least 21 years old and have no dependents

  • are in good physical and emotional health

  • are able to adapt to a variety of work and living situations

Mother of God Monastery provides:

  • housing on monastery grounds and meals with the Sisters

  • participation in daily communal prayer, Eucharist, work, and life of the Sisters

  • spiritual growth opportunities

  • peaceful, rural environment

  • small monthly stipend, if needed

Possible Areas of Service:

Assisting individual Sisters, services to the elderly, housekeeping, assist with food service, gardening, work with developmentally challenged persons, driving, work at local Boys and Girls Club, clerical work.

Lay Associates provide their own transportation to and from Watertown and their personal and medical expenses.
