Answers to my Questions?

  •  How will I know which community is right for me?

Listening to God speak to you in prayer at the depth of your heart is very important.  When you come to a sense of peace in your seeking, you can say that this community might be the right one to consider.  To help that happen it is important to get acquainted through visiting the monastery and staying in contact through email or phone calls.

  •  What do Benedictines do?

Benedictines have always responded to the needs of the places where they are.  Our sisters are involved with a variety of ministries such as education, healthcare, retreat ministry, pastoral care, and working with Native Americans and Hispanic people.  The primary work of monastics is living in community and sharing daily in our common prayer, work and leisure.  We strive for a balance in our lives.  Our ministry is determined by the needs of the community and Church to which each Sister responds according to her gifts and talents.

  •  What will I do in community?

You will join the community and share in the daily life of the sisters, while continuing to discern God's will for your life.  You will learn how this particular community lives out the  Benedictine way of life.  You will gradually see if this community brings you peace and joy and is right for you.

  •  Can I stay in contact with family and friends?

Staying connected with family and friends is very important to each person.  There are many ways we can support one another through email, phone calls and visits.
