COMMUNITY

SISTER REBECCA LITTEL

I joined the monastery because when I was attending Catholic grade school in Zell, SD, I noticed the great ministry to us and the love of the Sisters and i was inspired to want to do that someday.  I considered my calling as a gift from God.  Because I was taught by Benedictines, that is why I chose the Benedictine Order.  I love the Holy Rule, our charisms and our Community that is why I continue to stay plus my commitment through the vows and also because Jesus loves me and I love Him.

Several of my favorite missions were when I was on the Crow Creek Reservation in Stephan, SD.  I truly trusted in the Lord and loved the people, also the same in Guatemala.  Right now, I am really enjoying my ministry and the residents and staff at the Marillac Manor in Bismarck, ND.

When I was on an airplane going to Cottonwood, Idaho to minister to the elder Benedictine Sisters there, a young man was on the plane with his ten month old daughter.  When we were half way up, the little girl became sick.  The stewardess was busy, so I gave the father 2 tissues.  After we were up a ways, the father thanked me for helping him and said, "Thanks for the tissues, you grandmas just have the right things at the right times."  I did not want to embarrass him by telling him I was a Benedictine nun, so I answered, "Yes, I guess we do."

My main goal in life is to live each day to the hilt, joyful and open to the Holy Spirit and eventually enjoy eternal life.
