COMMUNITY SISTER JEREMY SITTER I was born on a farm near Buxton, North Dakota. When I was three years old, my parents, John and Mary Sitter and older brother James moved to Ipswich, South Dakota. I attended Holy Cross Grade School, Ipswich High School and one year of college at Mount Marty, in Yankton, SD. My parents and Benedictine teachers encouraged my vocation. I also had an aunt that was a Religious in Crookston, MN. After teaching for three years at St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD, I entered Sacred Heart Convent, Yankton, SD. I am also a founding member of Mother of God Monastery. I have taught in elementary schools in Ft. Yates and Glen Ullin, ND and am presently teaching at St. Joseph's School, Pierre, SD. Some highlights during my years as a Religious have been; making a Benedictine Renewal for 4 weeks in Rome in 2001. Also during the month of June 2005, I spent time in Estonia with my nephew Morgan Hammerbeck, I made the trip there with my sisters; Frances, Mary Jane and some friends as well. |
