SISTER GERTRUDE ROLFES

I am Sister Gertrude Rolfes, originally from LeMars, IA. For many years I taught in elementary schools and in more recent years I have been doing pastoral care in several hospitals.  On July 1st, 2001, I started a new position in a parish of 300+ households in north central Wisconsin.  The Diocese of La Crosse required a master's degree in religious studies from a Catholic institution.  I began the Masters of Arts in Servant Leadership that fall at Viterbo University, La Crosse.  As long as I was pursuing the master's degree, I was permitted to have the title, pastoral associate.  After two and one half years of driving through the woods and over the river one weekend a month, the day of graduation came about on May 8th, 2004.
