COMMUNITY SISTER EILEEN BRICK
During my college years while earning an elementary education degree at Northern State University in Aberdeen, I spent time discerning my religious vocation with the Benedictine Sisters of Mother of God Monastery in Watertown, SD. Through their prayerful encouragement and support, I was able to respond to God’s call for me by entering the community in 1979. After continued discernment, prayer, and study, I made temporary profession in 1980 and perpetual profession in 1988. The Benedictine community life, with its balance of prayer and work, has nurtured my spiritual life and has enabled me to grow in my relationship with God and others. I have been involved in elementary education since 1981 when I began teaching at St. Liborius School in Polo, SD. In 1984, I moved to Pierre, SD and I have been teaching at St. Joseph Elementary School since then. My years in education have been both rewarding and challenging. I have been blessed by living and working with faith-filled school and parish communities. At this time in my life, I am grateful to God for my Benedictine Sisters, my family and friends, and the students and staff members I have worked with. They have all been a part of the gift of my religious vocation.”
