SISTER ANACLETE FISCHER

Hello, I’m Sister Anaclete Fischer (with the ‘c’ which makes it German)My parents were German Russian and were born in Russia.  I learned German before I learned English.

I’m 92 years old and I’ve been a Benedictine for 79 of those years.  When I entered  the convent, Yankton, SD  was  the  closet Benedictine monastery; it took three days to get there by train.  Now there is one to the west of my home in Richardton, ND and one to the east in Bismarck, ND

I taught in North & South Dakota and in Nebraska.  My last mission was in Pierre where I helped out in the library.  One of the funniest things that happened when I was teaching was the day that one of the boys brought pins to school.  I saw one girl jump and then another and another and I kept thinking ‘what is going on’ until finally one of the girls spoke up saying that the boys had these pins & were poking them.
